Well, I am steamed! I spent four hours this morning/afternoon diagramming my Winter Blend Snowflake on a free trial download of Smart Draw. Just when I was thinking how good I/it was and patting myself on the back, BAM. I can't print, save as any kind of file or export it in any way. All of that work and my beautiful diagram wasted! I was so excited to share it with all of you and now I can't, unless there is something that I have missed. I will keep trying. I might have bought it too. Well, not really. I checked the price and it is much too expensive, especially for a novice designer.
I will keep checking eBay for copies of Serif Draw Plus 2X like Jane and Sherry use.
Sorry there's no diagram. Thanks for letting me vent! I also wanted to make sure none of you make the same mistake. It is upsetting to spend so much time on something and not know you won't be able to use it.

I'm sorry you put in all that work, only to have it lost. When trial software is a free download, I think you only get to try out the features, but not save anything. I had a free download of a weaving software once, and with that I could play around but couldn't save anything either.
You know, I have been playing with SmartDraw as well, after it was mentioned on HBT. I was able to save my drawing with no problems. It does place a watermark on the drawing to let those who see it know it was made using a trial version. I'm assuming you are using the 2008 version? You should be able to click the red diamond (for the lack of a better term) and select export, then jpeg (or whatever you want). It that doesn't work, I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe your trial is over?
I'd better check my free download! I forgot that some companies disable the save and print functions on the demo. I prefer the ones that give you a limited time to try the program.
I'm so sorry you weren't able to save or print, but I bet you have a pretty good idea of how the program works now!
I can understand your anger Laura. With me it was I had finished a large document and was about to save it when the computer went funny and erased all my work. Oh happy days.
Thanks everyone. Jeff, you were right. The red diamond was the trick. I just started my trial yesterday so I knew that wasn't the problem. I have saved it now and hope to be able to post it soon. I would never have worked it out on my own!
Can you do a screen dump? That is take a picture of what is on your screen and then save that?
Hi Pamela. I don't know if I can do that or not, but I managed to export it so all is well for now. Thanks!
