Snowflake Rose in Lady Shuttle Maker's Hand Dyed Grapefruit

This started out to be one of Denise's snowflake roses. However, when I started tatting the points, I made a mistake and left out a ring on each side of the first point. Rather than cut it out, I decided to try and make up one for myself. So, I guess I can call about half of it my own. I finished the points then used Flora light green and DMC dark green for the last row. I should have put in more ds as it wants to bowl up, but I managed to press it flat. I'll know better next time I decide to tat out of my own head.

Once again, thanks Sherry for your fabulous thread and more praise to all of you who design tatting for yourselves and to sell or share with us. I don't know how you do it!

This is like a fruity salad...it's making me hungry.

Yummy! Did you use your new scanner?

Very nice Laura, it will make a nice addition to your rainbow tree. ( had to give it a different name so you could leave it up all year )

I think everybody must love fruit salad! I'll have to use more grapefruit. No, I didn't get to use the scanner. It is not hooked up yet. We have a new computer and we're waiting to set it all up at once.
Thank you Clyde. I like the new name of rainbow tree! Guess at some point I will have to switch over to valentines, huh?

You did well with your designing! Now you know where you need to add more double stitches, so just add more next time. You're on your way! The snowflake is wonderful!

Thank you so much Marilee for your encouragement! I would love to do my own designing. My dad always gave me a hard time about doing something that wasn't my own. My woodcarvings are always my own, but I have a hard time doing the same thing with tatting. Maybe I will work it out with "a little help from my friends!"
