How pretty! We tried growing a Japanese blood maple one year. It just didn't like our winter! I didn't know they flowered either!
I really is a beautiful tree. I covet it every time I am over there! Shame on me. I'm not surprised it didn't like you winter, but I'm sorry you lost your tree. I hope we will be able to harvest the seeds and grow some more.
beautiful. Wow, you have some nice trees there, dogwood and japanese blood maples...what next? a Jacuaranda tree? oh,sorry, that's what we have here in So Cal beautiful lavender blossoms if you can believe it...sorry, I felt I had to have some TREE INPUT, there...lol ;)
What a pretty blossom on the Japanese Blood Maple! Now I want one! But I live in PA and we have harsh winters. But we do have lots of pretty Dogwood trees and they are blooming now and look so pretty, especially the pink/salmon colored blossoms. Have a nice Day!
I may be wrong, but I think those are the seeds, not the flowers. Either way, it a very nice tree. I wish the maple trees we grow here look like that.
Tattingchic, that tree sounds lovely! Please send pictures! Carol, I wish you could have one. They are so pretty. I'm glad your dogwoods are blooming and Spring has finally reached you.
Jeff, you are right about it being the seeds. I couldn't see that in person as they are so small. It took the pictures coming in from my friend to see that they look like the little "helicopters" that we used to play with as kids and I know they are seeds. I hope we can make some grow! I'd like to have one in my yard.
