Rhubarb Crisp Doily Rounds 1 and 2

Here are the first two rounds on the doily. I am not at all happy with the picture, but this is the best I could do. I made EIGHT scans and couldn't get one good one, so I got out the camera. It really is much prettier than it looks here. The outer round is a DMC Cebelia buttercup yellow.

I want to make the Rhubarb Crisp go as far as possible. I only have three skeins, so I might have to do every other row. We will see. I really want the outer round to be the same as the center.

This is the same pattern as the friendship doily. It is from the DMC Book of Charted Designs.

Thanks again to Yarnplayer, Marilee, for the lovely hand dyed thread.

It looks beautiful. Maybe it would make a more dramatic statement if you did all of the outer rows except the last one in yellow. Then the inside and outside would be the beautiful variegated thread with the yellow acting like negative space to really show off the variegated thread. Or maybe take a shade like the red of the Rhubarb Crisp and use it for the next row, then repeat the yellow and finish with the Rhubarb Crisp to tie all the shades together.

It looks grand. A suggestion. Try scanning it with the lid of the scanner up. That would give you a black background which might show it up even better!

Thanks everybody. I am so glad that you like the start of the doily. Your ideas are good Sharon. I will see if I have any of that red to repeat. It's such a pretty, but different, color. Jane, believe it or not, I did try with the lid open. I don't know what is wrong. It only came out with a gray background and still didn't show up. I am wondering if there is not enough light around the scanner. I'll keep trying. Karl never has any trouble getting a black background when he does it for me. Thanks to all of you for the help and suggestions.
