Introducing Dame Margo - The Dancing Hippo!

If you are born a pink hippo, you are born to the stage! (What else is a pink hippo to do?) She is in Birmingham, Alabama for an extended engagement with the Alabama Ballet. Her further appearances will be published in a tour schedule later this month. We are having great difficulty finding a partner for the little darling. We've also had to order new toe shoes as they don't last long and are only available from a select few suppliers.

I really enjoyed tatting this project and appreciate Jane's hard work providing it for us. I hope there will be more to come, from her and other designers.

That's awesome, Laura! So creative. I'm gonna have to redo mine now that is is finished. I guess hippos can be any colour after all.

LOL Laura, this is so hilarious! Love it. May I suggest you add a tiny tiara to complement the attire?

Thanks Jeff and Jon. I had fun with this. Yes, they can be any color as long as they have the right job! I think a tiny tiara would be the perfect complement to the attire. I will work on that in the morning. I think she will be pleased. Both of you please let me know if you have any suggestions about her tour destinations!

How cute! I believe you could write a children's book with this darling hippo as your inspiration! ; )

Love your sense of humour Laura, may I suggest the Russian Ballet and then off to Paris of course for Dame Margo.

Thanks Diane and Clyde. This is so much fun. I thnk the Russian Balet and then Paris would be perfect. The Alabama Ballet is going to be doing Romeo and Juliet next and I'm afraid the balcony scene would be a disaster!

Giggle snort...this is too funny!
Yes a tiara is a must and I like Diane's suggestion of a children's book....with your writing talent...oh my, the possiblities abound!

I'd love to see a whole troupe of hippos... after all, Dame Margo does need a supporting cast! Just make sure they all don't end up on one side of the stage at the same time! ; )

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Laura that is brilliant.

Now you are all making me laugh. Giggle, snort indeed! The tiara is in the planning stages and I am brushing up on my ballet positions. It's been a long time! A book sounds great too. I will definitely make sure the whole troupe doesn't end up on the same end of the stage. Talk about a "sprung floor."

So, so cute! And you are a good writer, too!

You are to funny! I can see it now..... The Adventures of Dame Margo - The Dancing Hippo ....... maybe a story there. She is cute, great job.

Such a clever idea, your Dame Margo is unique! What a lovely tutu! If you should decide against a career as a children's book author (writing, of course, the adventures of the ballerina Dame Margo) -- you could at least the the costumer for the troupe!

Thanks Yarnplayer, Bonnie and Marty. Writing used to be my first passion until the migraines took me out of action. Never a book though. Maybe I was just waiting for the right idea. Marty you gave me another idea. Maybe Dame Margo is a frustrated ballerina who has to settle for being the costumer.... That would be very touching and I can see lots of teaching potential.

Adorable! I might just have to run up to Birmingham and watch a performance...it's not that far!
