Wooden Shuttles My Dad Made For Me

Since the rest of the doily is secret until I finish this last row and 1/2, I thought I would show you pictures of my shuttles Daddy made for me. The black ones are African Ebony, the red ones are Purple Heart and the others are assorted Maple (I think.) They are not my favorite to use as I prefer the thread on the inside of the shuttle, but they are treasures no less. The metal you see is where he inserted a piece of metal and bent the end to give me a hook but it didn't work very well. I have snipped them off and need to file them down good.

Some of you know my dad was a master craftsman in wood. My home is full to overflowing with treasures he made, including furniture and hand carved pictures. I also have lots of treasures my mother crocheted, knitted, quilted and made in ceramics. I am truly blessed!

Your shuttles are beautiful! What a wonderful remembrance of your dad! I like working with the side shuttles, but I do tat more easily with post shuttles.

You are so lucky to have them. I can see that the creativity has been passed on to you too. MY father plays the violin when he was younger, but I could not even after I tried. In fact, none of us in the family showed any interest in music... sad, really.

Wow, what beautiful shuttles and such treasures, too! How neat that your Father made all those handmade wooden things, it's really neat...and you Mother, too! It must be a genetic thing that you all work with your hands!

Yes, he was very clever Pamela. I hope he and Mother both rubbed off on me.
I do appreciate and recognize my blessings LSM, as do you!
Oh, a father who played the violin when he was younger must have been a treat. My mother played the viola when she was in high school but I never heard her play. That is a shame.
Thank you TattingChic. I did come from a gifted family on both sides and I am grateful.

What lovely keepsakes from your Father. He did a fantastic job on the shuttles. This style works well with lots of beads! Enjoy!

Thanks Carol. As a matter of fact, I have used these with beads several times. That's about the only time I use them. They hold lots of beads and they are easy to load!
