Sometimes you just gotta paint! Hope you like the new thread winders. I painted them with acrylics then used Tatting Goddess' method of sealing them - clear nail polish! They still need at least one more coat, then they will be finished. Maybe I can get back to tatting snowflakes after that. Oh, the butterfly is obviously from the "fantasy" species and covered with glitter nail polish. The snowflakes are also painted with glitter nail polish on top of the acrylic.

They're all so pretty! I love the way you've shaded the bows, and somehow I just knew you'd get around to snowflakes!

Thank you Diane. Yes, had to have the snowflakes but I like the bows best.
Glad you like 'em Tattingchic. I'd be in trouble if you didn't!
Hi Sherry aka Celtic Dream Weaver. Yes, that is me who does woodcarving. I'd love to see the pictures. Here is my email lblanton2750 at charter.net. Of course, replace the at with @.
I love the ribbons. Keep it coming Laura.
Hi Laura, Your thread winders are beautiful and the shading on them is perfect.
Thank you Zarina. The ribbons were fun!
Thanks Clyde. I'm glad you like them. I always strive for perfection whether I achieve it or not.
Wow,
I leave for one week and your work and your blog are prolific during my absence...
So much to catch up on, and I love every minute of it!
That will teach you to go off and leave Lala! No really. I'm so glad you got to go on vacation. I have been busy a little bit at a time! Have fun reading all of the blogs.
I can't take credit for the method of sealing with clear nail polish. Other tatters who decorated shuttles before me were the ones who used clear nail polish - Sue Hanson & Sherry Townsend are 2 who come to mind. I will say I tried clear varnish on the wooden shapes when I painted some a few years ago but it seems to stay tacky too long and the clear nail polish sets up very quickly and makes a nice smooth glossy finish so I like it better - especially when you have threads to wind around the shape.
