This is my Dad and me at the Whistle Stop Festival in Irondale, Alabama probably 1993 or 1994. We had a great time! This was six or seven years before I learned the fine art of tatting!
These are some Madonna and Child figures in progress.
This is my 1st three dimensional carving and my first Madonna and Child.
2nd Madonna and Child.
More tomorrow!!!

All I can say is... WOW! Your carvings are fabulous!
That was so nice to see, thanks for sharing and WHAT a talent.
You look just the same, same beautiful smile, would have recognised you anywhere.
Laura, these are so beautiful. You are amazingly talented. I suppose people have already asked you why you don't carve wooden tatting shuttles. Are they extremely intricate and difficult to do?
Thanks Diane. Just a small part of the talent my dad possessed.
Glad you like them Pamela. My dad was amazing and taught me as well as he could! I'm glad you recognized me. Thanks for the compliment.
Thank you tattingchic. You are very flattering. It's not just that they are difficult. There are so many others making wooden tatting shuttles that I don't want to swerve into anyone else' territory.
I'm going to say this again - you have so many talents. Are anyone in the family looking like they are taking it up too? It would be a shame not to to be able to pass it down.
You are so pretty, what a lovely photo, with your father looking so happy too.
I'm with Tattingchic...try your hand at a tatting shuttle sometime, it would be lovely to have your very own design.
(Making to sell might be a nuisance, but just trying to make one...?)
What Talent!
Thank you Jon. You are very kind. My nephew is trying to learn. I'm pretty sure he can, he just needs more free time.
Thank you Snowy. That was long time ago! I can't believe it's been 14 years. I am going to give in and try a shuttle. You'll be one of the first to know if I make it.
Thank you Bonnie!
I LOVE LOVE the pics...especially the one of you and your dad!
How very special.
oh....and I want to be the first to know when you make your wooden tatting shuttles.
There is plenty of room for your talent in our community!
Thank you Lady Shuttle Maker. I am glad I found that picture of my dad and me. It was a very special day. You WILL be the first to know when I make wooden tatting shuttles. I just have to get a plan in my wooden head!
