As far as I know, these are the last 4 pictures of old carving that I will be posting. I think you probably have had enough by now. This Santa is one of my earliest and not as rounded as it should have been, but I still love him!
I love carving these spoons. I don't know why I stopped.
The spoon on the right is a deer head for the male half of a couple with whom we used to go to church. The one on the left is the only one that I have left. All the others were sold.
This spoon was for the female half of the same couple. It just fit her perfectly.

Outstanding.
I love your Santa, and your spoons are amazing! I especially like the one that looks like dogwood to me. Oh, how I wish dogwood would survive northern Illinois winters!
Thanks Madeline. You are so sweet.
Thank you Diane. I'm glad you like them. That one is indeed dogwood. I'm honored that you recognized it. I wish you had them there. They are so beautiful and inspiring.
I love your Santa, but the spoons are beautiful. WOW! I don't know why you ever stopped carving them either.
Thank you Bonnie. I might have to see if I can still carve spoons!
WOW! Those are incredible! What lovely works of art.
Those put a whole new meaning to 'stirring it with a wooden spoon'!!! Wonderful work.
Laura, your spoons are works of art that you should be proud of. They are beautiful.
Have you thought about carving some tatting shuttles? Looking at your other woodworking, I think you would make some beautiful shuttles!
What a wonderful talent. I am always amazed how someone can create something so beautiful with just their hands and something sharp. The Santa is wonderful and the spoons are lovely. AND you still have all your fingers! lol!
They are all wonderful, we definetely need you to start carving shuttles.
So um...yeah.... Why did you stop carving these?
Do all these wonderful posts mean that you are back in the carving game???
I hope so!
Wow, I've gotten behind with my thank yous on this one! Thank you Tattingchic. I love them.
Jane if I catch ANYONE, and that includes Isaac, stirring in any pot with one of these spoons there is going to be big trouble!
Thank you Clyde. I am very proud of them and planning more.
Am I still me, I have thought of carving tatting shuttles but haven't got a plan in my head as of yet. Thank you for your praise.
Thank you Victats. My dad always said he didn't need anything but his pocket knife. It's a wonder, but I do still have all my fingers! There were several close calls. I finally gave in and started wearing special gloves or leather thumb protectors. I always kept super glue in my tool box!
Thanks Tatskool. We'll see about the shuttles.
Lady Shuttle Maker, I stopped when Dad went into the nursing home and we couldn't go to our club meetings anymore. I think I just lost the heart for it. It's coming back. Slowly, but surely.
