Tatting while doing anything else!
Help! I would like to know how all of you watch t.v. and tat. Or, talk to people and tat. I have the hardest time with this. I try to remind myself to check the ring before I close it, but I always seem to mess up. I was with my nephew at the hospital yesterday. I always try to tat in public when appropriate so I can introduce it to people who might be interested. I had only done one ring on my snowflake when I realized I did not do the back half of the split ring. Argh! I tried for quite a while to untat it and finally gave up and cut it out. Now, I have to tie the thread back in. I just put it away and picked up another project I had taken with me. I love my tatting and want to do it whenever possible, but it seems I must concentrate while tatting. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Er...I don't watch much TV! Actually, most of my creations require too much equipment to be very portable -- crochet hooks, beads, etc. -- so I usually work in my "studio". It's creative playtime for me.
Sometimes I do watch TV with the family if it's a really good nature show or Star Trek or...if I happen to be on TV myself! I've been on a local channel a few times playing cello with the orchestra. Since I do have to practice as well, I really don't have time for much TV watching.
You may have guessed -- I'm way behind in housework!
Thanks for the comment. I do some of those complicated creations as well, but try to keep more simple projects for travel. I don't have a studio, lucky you! I have a little lap desk that I use, but the tv is always on when DH is home. I have been on tv a couple of times about 15 years ago when I was modeling for a local women's clothing store. Nothing since then. I would love to hear your cello playing. I check your blog periodically to keep up with what you are doing! DH and I both love the arts and attend concerts when at all possible, especially outdoor ones. Housework? Can you explain this - housework?
The only time that I can get tatting done is when I am watching TV in the evening. I find it relaxing and I count the stitches in my head. I have a hard time talking and tatting; I can complete a ring or chain, then have to stop talking so I can count picots before closing the ring or changing from the chain to the ring.
Hi Snickerman. I guess I just need to slow down and be sure everything is right before I close the rings when watching tv. Talking, however, is completely out!
Thanks,
Laura
