Karey Solomon's Dragonet

Here is my very feeble attempt to tat Karey Solomon's Dragonet. I love Karey's dragons, but they don't seem to love me. I've had this book for some time and finally decided I must brave at least one of the dragons. I seem to have made the belly to small and the claws are too close in and not defined sufficiently for me. If any of you have any suggestions or insight to these patterns, please let me know. I think my brain cells found out where Jane's were vacationing and have joined them there! If they were present before I started this project, they have certainly deserted me now.

Dragonet is tatted in size 20 Flora with size 11 purple beads.

It looks like you are having fun with the dragon tatting! Thank you for entering the giveaway! Good luck to you! Oh, that would be SOOOOOOOO totally cool if you participated in the OWOH giveaway! They need more tatters involved! I'm amazed at the response and how many people are saying they would really like to learn and the stories they are sharing with their predecessors tatting and stuff! It's really touching! Let me know when you start participating so I can come and enter yours! :)

You are funny! I haven't tatted any dragons yet...but it's on my list.

Well, at least you finished! I was right there in her class! I do remember there was something tricky. I took mine off the shuttles finally. I was not liking the thread and wanted to start over with something new. They really are dazzling when finished. Give me awhile and when I try again, we can do it together - unless you already do it again before then. (very possible!)

I think you are right Jane. I wish I had received such long holidays when I was working!
Hi Tatting Chic. Yeah, I had fun seeing it finished! I hope I do win your giveaway and look forward to participating in the giveaway myself. I will let you know when I start!
Oh, you must tat at least one dragon Lady Shuttle Maker!
That makes me feel better Gina. Let me know when you get ready to go again. Maybe we can get it done together!

Hi, good to see you!
Some patterns are definately harder than others...and I am quite shy of figurative work for that reason, when it looks wrong it looks wrong.
(and when you're ill brain cells are generally less co-operative.)
I hope the next pattern just flies off the shuttles.

I feel your pain Laura. It just seems that sometimes a pattern does not want to workout for us. Better luck next time. It was great talking on the phone with you yesterday and even better to find out it is free for you to call Canada.

I've done this pattern a couple of times. I've made a few mistakes and recognise this one...its in the first 1-2 bead loops you made. Go back and check it out again. That's why the abdomen is messed up. The rest looks just perfect (more or less).

Good to hear from you Snowy. Yes, some patterns are definitely harder than others. I have really enjoyed tatting Jane's animals and figures, but this one about beat me down. I'll try to do better next time!
It does hurt when the patterns don't work right Clyde. It is so frustrating. It makes me feel better than Gina had trouble with it and she was in the class. It was lovely talking with you last night. We will definitely keep in touch.

Your dragon's looking good Laura. I really like Karey's dragons as well and got her book as soon as I could. I haven't tatted any yet, but you have inspired me to try. I'm gonna start working on the Dragonet tonight. Perhaps we could have a "Tat-Along"; anyone who has the pattern and desire to tat the pattern could tat along. Kinda like the TIAS, except we will know what we are tatting.

Hi Jeff. I'm glad I have inspired you to tat the Dragonet. I wasn't looking to start another one now, but if we could all help each other..... Maybe. How is it going?

Hi Laura,

I completely understand. I'd love to see the results if you tat another one. I am currently at the neck of the dragonet. I haven't had any major problems besides a broken thread or two. With any luck, I'll finish the dragonet tonight. I'll post a picture to my blog.
