My grandmother always said it was bad luck to take old work, among other things, into the new year. In that spirit, I was determined to finish this doily and get it posted today. It needs a good blocking, but a light pressing will have to do for now.
This is Pamela's Coral Reef thread, of course. I had a set of the solids to mix with it. I was very fortunate that she had saved a skein of the batch I bought. I ran out of the variegated! Now I know what some of you felt like in this situation.
Wishing you and yours a safe and prosperous New Year!

Fabulous! I love your idea of not carrying things over into the new year, but does that mean I have to throw out all my UFOs?
It's beautiful Lala! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Your doily is beautiful. How fortunate that Pamela had the extra skein!
If taking old work in to a new year is bad luck, I am in for a really bad year :-) My new years resolution is to finish all my projects that are languishing in my sewing room.
Hope 2009 brings you lots of luck.
Best wishes
Well done it's beautiful. Happy New Year to you all from all of us especially Tatskool,Fergal and Fionn xxxx
Very pretty doily Laura and I am a fan of that pattern myself. Wishing you all the best in the New Year.
Very pretty Laura. Happy New Year to all of you. Madeline
No, Diane. You don't have to throw out all of your UFO's! That's was just my most important UFO and as a tribute to my grandmother, I finished it. Worry not!
Thank you Lady Shuttle Maker. Happy New Year to you!
Thanks and Happy New Year to you, Tatting Chic. Yes, I was very fortunate.
You'll be fine Jane. I explained earlier in this comment. Have fun with your UFO's and a very Happy New Year!
Thank you Tatskool. I hope I did your thread proud. Give Fionn and Fergal hugs from me!
Thank you Clyde. I hope you and yours have a wonderful New Year with much good health.
Thanks Madeline. Happy New Year!
Darn! I could have had an excuse for getting rid of some stuff!
In that case, Diane, what I really meant to say was, "You need to decide what you love to do best, pick one or two and throw the rest out the door!!! I actually did that years ago. I picked tatting with the occasional knitted project. Crocheting hurts my hands too bad. Everything else including needlepoint and count thread cross stitch I bundled up and sent to The Salvation Army. What a load of pressure that took off of me!
Oh My! It is LoVeLy! Really beautiful! What is it's size? I don't have the thread amount concept down, so I'm curious as to how much thread you think you used here. One of my fears is that if I took on a project of much size I'd run out of thread.
Happy 2009 to you~!~
