Tatted Pyramid Orchid mat progression

This is the first corner of the new checkerboard round. I rather like it! Now, a new realm of possibilities...... Do I continue around making it square again, or put another corner on the other side to balance it out and leave it an abstract? Stay tuned for further progress, or let me know your thoughts. I am sure they are lots of opinions out there and I could use them!

Your mat is beautiful! I tend to like balance, so my first reaction would be to make the right side look like the left side... but, I'm finding that I really like a lot of the abstract work I've been finding as I look around, so I think I'd prefer to be bold and go with the abstract.

Wow, it's like a tatted quilt! I really like it!

Thanks for the vote Diane. One for abstract!
I hadn't thought about it looking like a quilt, but you are so right Sherry! Thanks.

As I understand it, you want to know whether you should finish it up as a square (traditional), or finish it as a design that is symetrical, but not square (artsy). That depends on where you plan to put it, but I am inclined to think you will get more "wows!" if you go with artsy -- it just seems more 21st century, somehow.

Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to convey. I don't know where I am going to use/put it, but I think I like the idea of it being "artsy", maybe because that's what I am! I think it would make an interesting conversation piece finished and framed that way. Thanks for the vote. That's two abstract.
