Yes, the camera is digital. It does have that button, but doesn't seem to do any good. I think we made a bad choice in cameras. Thanks for the comment on my tatting!
I don't know anything about digital cameras, but when I went shopping I told the camera guy what I wanted to do with it. He recommended a Sony or a Canon, saying that they had the better lenses for close-up work. I now have a Sony Cybershot DSC-S500 and I'm very happy with it. It wasn't one of the more expensive ones, either.
New is not always better! I got the old camera out and made a picture of the Easter Egg. So much better. I really must get a scanner for my tatting!
